The Confluence of Food and Politics: A Danish Experience

One of my greatest hobbies is enjoying local European cuisine. Europe’s enormous cultural diversity is chiefly reflected in its local cuisine, complete with traditions and origins. Natural boundaries such as rivers, mountain ranges, and seas have played pivotal roles in the creation of nations and their political strategies. Additionally, Europe’s navigable rivers have fostered trade and growth.

So, where better to enjoy Smørrebrød than in Copenhagen? Easier said than done, especially during a late lunch. One place after another was packed. However, as a hallmark of this European summer, iconic former social democratic leaders have guided me in the right direction of restaurants. As an open-minded individual, I engage in intellectual discussions with everyone, where respect and equality serve as the foundation for excellent public discourse.

This time, fate led me to the Labour Museum in Copenhagen, where I saw a wall poster featuring none other than Anker Jörgensen (Danish politician who served at various times as Prime Minister). The museum’s basement houses the classic Smørrebrød restaurant Café & Ølhalle “1892,” complete with workers’ beer—a darker classic lager that exudes natural personality, much like Anker himself. Exemplified by Ankers refusal to move into the official Prime Minister residence Marienborg, preferring to stay with his wife in their small apartment in a working class area of Copenhagen.

Post-COVID-19 creates an “industrial revolution” in the US

Circling Overland by Mr Joakim Dahl. To present perspectives and gather information beforehand, I am circling overland in silence and complete invisibility, instantly scanning and checking the news feed to bring the insight you need.

In the article from the Pulitzer Prize winner The Boston Globe about factory jobs in the US, we can figure out the driving forces in this small “industrial revolution”.

The “industrial revolution” in the US is not an effect of bringing back overseas jobs. Instead, the crimped global supply chains after COVID-19 have made domestic manufacturing more attractive. Delayed deliveries and higher shipping prices – are in favour of moving production closer to home.

Businesses also see the geopolitical risk of operating in specific regions overseas amid rising tensions between Washington and some opponents.

The rise of domestic industrial production is driven by pharmaceutical plants, craft breweries, and food makers to be located outside the industrial strongholds, now in the Mountain West and the Southeast.

A series of economic resistances that can divide global trade from future growth

It’s a fast-changing world with new insights every day; as a reader of the Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz, this is my selected news of the day. Let me share my special notes and personal comments to stay ahead in the perspective of what’s happening in the world.

Since the end of the cold war, the development of global trade has significantly affected the world economy. The inflation has been down while raising millions out of poverty.

And now, the world is likely to fall into a series of economic resistances that can divide global trade from future growth and rewrite the pattern of our trade structure as we know it. Export-oriented businesses need to follow the early signals of long-term geo-political effects.

The development in Egypt gives us an outlook of what’s going on worldwide.

-The emerging markets have been affected by rising global interest rates and the effects of the war in Ukraine.

In Egypt, the rising interest rates make the repaying of debt heavier in combination with the rise of import bills; Egypt, with 100 million inhabitants, is the world’s biggest wheat importer. The electricity usage has been reoriented, allowing Egypt to add a new strategy in exporting more natural gas and strengthen its financial position with foreign currency.

And in the end, adding higher global commodities prices to the situation above will affect the balance of imports and export and clarify the new pattern of trade.
