I like to stand out and contribute with personality, intellect, knowledge and style. Wearing a hat today isn’t something you see often anymore—hat racks have all but disappeared.
So, I’ll be using the door knob as one. It sends a clear signal: this meeting room is occupied, just as when I’m diving into a background presentation during a business development meeting I’m advising on.
As I mentioned, a hat sends signals.
I am on my way to a diplomatic event with invited business and political actors, along with the local community from the host country.
The dress code today is usually not as formal as other similar official events, so I can allow the summer weather to influence my outfit. I will wear solid red and patterned attire, complemented by a jacket with blue stripes.
This ensemble is somewhat formal for the occasion and my position, but also makes a statement, reinforcing my personal brand while networking at the event.
